By Mona Chun, Executive Director at Human Rights Funders Network
Dear Members and Allies:
With much excitement, I write to share the news that International Human Rights Funders Group has a new name to match the reach and vibrancy of our membership.
We are now Human Rights Funders Network.
Why a new name after twenty-three years? Our membership has grown to nearly 1,500 individual members across over 60 countries. In removing the word international, we recognize the diversity of our community and the relevance of human rights both “at home” and “abroad”—no matter where one is based. Network more fully captures the connectivity and energy of our community.
We have a dynamic, new website to accompany our name change. The new site will better serve the human rights funding community and provides a robust platform for member engagement.
Highlights of the site include:
- Searchable events and resources listings;
- The Community Voices blog where members can publish insights and experiences on topics related to human rights philanthropy;
- A membership benefits page and online application;
- A jobs board for our community; and
- Our funder-only map to explore the who, what and where of human rights funding
Your collaboration is integral to what we accomplish as a global network of members and allies. As we launch our new identity, please share our site with those in your networks and update your website and current publications with our new name and logo.
Our focus on advancing human rights through effective philanthropy is as relevant today as it was when we began in 1994. We look forward to new and exciting opportunities with you as we embark on a future as Human Rights Funders Network.
We will continue to build out and refine our site, so check back often, share your feedback and reach out if there are ways we can better serve you.
