1:45 – 2:00 pm: General Business
2:00 – 3:00 pm: TechSoup Presentation: Improving Data Security on its Platform
TechSoup, a nonprofit that provides technological solutions to nearly a million funders and NGO’s worldwide, is looking to improve its digital security and that of the civil society organizations it serves. With governments closing civil society spaces around the world, TechSoup is exploring ways to improve data security, such as by moving its infrastructure to a blockchain-based data model (similar to the encryption behind bitcoin). Sheila Warren, Vice President of Strategic Alliances and General Counsel at TechSoup, will discuss these ideas with IGOWG members and solicit their input on whether such a model would be feasible and welcome by the sector. Remote IGOWG members are invited to attend via Zoom.
3:00 – 4:30 pm: Open Discussion on Security & Safety Issues
Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and ideas to the group on enhancing the physical and digital safety of their grantees, as well as ways to send secure communications and payments to grantees in closing civil spaces. Remote IGOWG members are invited to attend via Zoom.
4:30 pm: Networking Event
