Human Rights Funders Network is pleased to share our new analysis of the human rights funding landscape: Advancing Human Rights: Annual Review of Global Foundation Grantmaking – 2019 Key Findings.
Our latest report captures $4.1 billion in human rights funding in 2019, a 10% increase from 2018 and a 242% increase over the past 10 years of analysis.
We see signs of hope, such as increased foundation funding from the Global South and East and growth in six of nine population categories. We also raise concerns, like persistent regional disparities in access to direct, flexible funding and remarkably low rates of intersectional funding. Building on a decade of research, this year’s Advancing Human Rights analysis provides a benchmark for our field and raises critical questions about how we can live up to our vision of just and open philanthropy.
Key Findings: English / Español / Francais
