Freedom House Funder’s Briefing
Freedom House was founded in 1941 by a group of concerned citizens led by Eleanor Roosevelt, a Democrat, and Wendell Willkie, a Republican, who believed that America’s survival as a free and democratic nation depended on triumph over the rising tide of totalitarianism. Since its founding, Freedom House has worked tirelessly to support freedom both globally and in the United States.
The organization’s work was severely impacted by sweeping cuts to U.S. foreign assistance last year. Despite these challenges, Freedom House continues to expand and defend freedom as it approaches the release of the 53rd edition of its flagship report, Freedom in the World, as well as its 85th anniversary. The Charles F. Kettering Foundation and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation are proud supporters of this important work.
A virtual session will be held on Wednesday, February 4, at 3:00 p.m. ET to highlight Freedom House’s efforts to inform public discourse and policy debates around critical challenges to U.S. democracy; mobilize decision-makers and donors to foster long-term democratic resilience; and strengthen a global network of democracy defenders.
This session is intended for funders only.
