Hosted by EarthRights International, Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, and the Jean Charles Choctaw Nation
Location: Columbia Law, 435 W 116th St, New York, NY 10027
Members from the Jean Charles Choctaw Nation (JCCN) share their story as one of the first U.S. communities to experience climate-forced displacement. This panel will focus on the community relocation effort, efforts to protect community and identity while being forced to leave traditional lands, and the failure of the state to protect the JCCN’s carefully crafted relocation plan. Panelists will share learnings with other communities that may experience the consequences of climate change, civil society organizations, and more.
Lunch will be provided.
