LGBTQI+ movements in Francophone North Africa are operating in a precarious environment. According to data from GPP and Égides, only 1% of global LGBTQI+ funding is allocated to Francophone contexts overall. The situation is especially dire in the Maghreb region, which receives less than 10% of the already limited funding going to the SWANA region.

Égides and GPP’s new report, “Funding Under Constraint: Dynamics, Inequalities, and Resilience of LGBTQI+ Movements in Francophone North Africa,” goes deeper into the region’s funding landscape, examining Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia through funding trends, political, security, and anti-rights dynamics and the administrative and language barriers that activists face.

Join us for a webinar on October 20 to unpack the key findings and hear from researchers from the region about the challenges, the key actors, and what donors need to do differently before it’s too late.

This webinar is for grantmakers only – simultaneous interpretation will be provided in French.
