Events Closing Civic Space HRD's Intersectionality Racial Justice

Hosted by Grassroots International

The dialogue, moderated by Grassroots International Board Member Mamyrah Dougé-Prosper, will delve into the historical roots of the crisis and explore potential paths forward. The speakers will draw insights from, but not limited to, The Montana Accord – For a Haitian-led solution, a document collaboratively developed by various Haitian social movements, activists, intellectuals, and progressive political parties. Opening remarks will be offered by Grassroots International’s Co-Executive Director, Chung-Wha Hong.

This webinar aims to shed light on the perspectives of Haitian social movements that vehemently oppose foreign intervention. These movements argue that historical military missions have only worsened the country’s issues rather than resolving them. Attendees are invited to hear directly from the following peasant and social movements:

  • Juslene Tyresias and Chavannes Jean Baptiste, Mouvman Peyizan Papay/ Peasant Movement of Papaye, (MPP)
  • Doudou Pierre Festile, Mouvman Peyizan Nasyonal Kongre Papay/ National Congress of the Papaye Peasant Movement (MPNKP)
  • Micherline Islanda Aduel, Tèt Kole Ti Peyizan Ayisyen/ Heads Together Smallscale Farmers of Haiti
  • Camille Chalmers, Plateforme Haïtienne de Plaidoyer pour un Développement Alternatif/ Haitian Platform to Advocate Alternative Development (PAPDA)
