International Funders for Indigenous People (IFIP)

In 2024, the year remained a crucial one for international policymaking on climate and biodiversity rights, two issues directly linked to the rights of Indigenous Peoples. The 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16) and the 29th meeting of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) both adopted key decisions: the establishment of a Permanent Subsidiary Body on Article 8(j) and the setting of new climate finance goals, respectively. As efforts advance towards implementing these decisions, it is essential to strategize the participation of Indigenous Peoples.

To highlight the implications of these policies on the rights of Indigenous Peoples, an online panel discussion is being organized to reflect on the outcomes and collaboratively strategize for 2025.
