This report explores how authoritarian regimes are increasingly reaching beyond their borders to attack, intimidate, and detain journalists in an effort to control information and stamp out dissent.
The report is based on interviews with journalists who have fled conflict and government attacks in their home countries and sought refuge in democracies across Europe and North America. It includes recommendations for governments, civil society, and the private sector to enhance efforts to support journalism in exile.
