Health & safety

HRFN is committed to maintaining the health and safety of everyone to the fullest extent possible. We will continue to monitor the situation to make the Festival as safe as possible in the current COVID-19 context. We will observe the local standards, venue protocols, and laws to be respectful visitors to Oaxaca.

Vaccines

Participants are required to be fully vaccinated. We understand that the availability of vaccines, boosters, and second boosters is uneven around the world. Proof of vaccination will be required for all attendees. We consider fully vaccinated having had your final available shot at least two weeks before attendance.

Masks

For the safety of attendees and our impact on the local community, masks will be required at all indoor convening events when attendees are not actively eating or drinking, or speaking as part of a plenary, workshop, or site visit presenter. The policy might be updated based on the dynamic context.

Note that the conference hotel and some other conference spaces require masks in all public spaces. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own masks. Extra K95 masks will be available at the Festival.

COVID-19 Symptoms and Testing

We strongly encourage all attendees to take a rapid test before traveling to mitigate the challenges of a positive test once at the convening.

Please don’t attend the Festival if you are COVID-positive, exhibit COVID symptoms, or have been exposed to COVID-19, within five days before the event. Get in touch with us if that’s the case at conference@hrfn.org.

We will have rapid diagnostic tests available. Anyone with a positive test result should isolate themselves and quarantine according to Mexico’s health protocols. Any expenses incurred as a result of a positive test, including any related to isolation or quarantine, will be the sole responsibility of the attendee.

No person may participate in the conference if they become ill, or exhibit any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 during the conference.

Thank you for doing your part to keep yourself and everyone else safe during the convening.
